MISSIT TO GO LISTED SATURDAY

MISSIT has been given the green light for a crack at the Heatherwold Stud Stakes, a Listed race at Newbury on Saturday.

Mick was pleased with the Orpen filly when she breezed this morning, showing no ill-effects from her cracking run in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket.

Owner Tim Corby said: "The filly is in grand form and Newbury looks a good opportunity for her to get back on the winning trail. If there's any cut in the ground it won't bother her."

That statement does not apply to HALICARNASSUS in the Group 3 Weatherbys St Simon Stakes and Tim added: "We're in to run because we're not certain whether he'll be invited to go to Hong Kong. The ground needs to dry up a bit but the horse is fine."

SEEKING STAR worked well with ATLANTIC SPORT and one of this pair will contest the Group 3 Mountgrange Stud Stakes, formerly the Horris Hill.

HE TOLD YOU SO - BOSS NETS TON WITH AJIGOLO

AJIGOLO duly provided our 100th domestic success of the year when storming home under Tadgh O'Shea in the opener at Wolverhampton.

The four-year-old defied a 6lb penalty for a recent success at Lingfield and was well on top in the final furlong.

The Boss tipped him in my earlier piece today. The truth is, The Boss has always had a 'soft spot' for Ajigolo. His extertise has enabled the horse to rediscover his smart 2YO form and in current mood he'll be hard to stop when going for the hat-trick.

MICK ON BRINK OF ANOTHER CENTURY

MENADAH's triumph at Wolverhampton last Thursday night took the stable within one of the milestone of a hundred domestic winners.

Missit came within a few inches of clinching the ton when runner-up in the Rockfel and today the responsibility falls on AJIGOLO to take us there in the opener at Wolverhampton.

Tadgh O'Shea won on Ajigolo at Lingfield earlier this month and is reunited with the chestnut. Mick says: "Everyone knows how highly I rated Ajigolo as a two-year-old but his three-year-old campaign proved disappointing for a number of valid reasons.

"This year he's taken his time to get there but he did it well at Lingfield and must have a great chance of a follow-up today."

MISSIT GOES DOWN FIGHTING

MISSIT goes into winter quarters as a genuine candidate for the Stan James 1,000 Guineas following her tenacious effort in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket yesterday.

Tim Corby's filly went down by a neck to Kitty Matcham but was getting to grips with the winner and only needed a couple more strides to make it very interesting.

Aidan O'Brien thinks the winner is improving at a rate of knots and the way Missit finished Tim has every right to believe she'll get the Guineas Mile next May.

He said: "It was pleasing to see her staying on again up the hill and we definitely have something to go to war with next year. She has abundant speed and stamina which is what you need in order to win a Classic."

HATTA FORT resented the cut in the ground but ran well for a long way behind New Approach in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes.

The Boss said: "It just hadn't dried out as much as we'd hoped but there will be another day for him."

'HALI' FOR ST SIMON IF GROUND OK

HALICARNASSUS has proved a magnificent standard bearer for owners Box 41 this season
but the colt might not be finished yet.
There has been talk of him going to the Hong Kong International in early December but
first Mick is looking at the St Simon Stakes at Newbury.
'Hali' breezed on the woodchip this morning and despite the inclement and ever-
changing weather has kept his summer coat. The Boss said: "We all saw how much he
likes Newbury when he won the Arc Trial there. He needs a big galloping track with
a long straight as he showed at Haydock and when he was second to a good horse (Echo
Of Light) at York.
"Sha Tin might be sharper than ideal even though the ground would be perfect, so we'll
have to see."

HIGH HOPES FOR MISSIT

MISSIT looked in tremendous shape in her final breeze ahead of the Rockfel Stakes and
looks our best chance of a winner on the superb Champions' Day card at Newmarket.
Tim Corby's filly has flourished since finishing just out of the money in the Group 1
Cheveley Park Stakes and will step up a furlong for tomorrow's Group 2.
Mick said: "If there is cut in the ground it shouldn't be too much but that won't
bother her at all. She's a fresh filly and on the book she's entitled to be in the
shake-up."
Championship Point is a 50-1 chance in some lists for the Dubai Champion Stakes but
The Boss feels the colt should not be underestimated. He added: "He will love the
cut in the ground and at his best would surprise plenty. He's going there and the
plan is to include him in our team for the Dubai Carnival next winter."

BOSS TO CHECK GROUND FOR HATTA

MICK will give the Rowley Mile course a morning check tomorrow before deciding
whether to allow HATTA FORT to take his chance in the Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes.
Speaking from HQ this morning he told me: "It seems lovely ground but the proof of the
pudding will be in the eating.
"It's a glorious day and it seems to be drying out as i'd hoped, but we'll have to see
how it rides. I'll probably wait until lunchtime tomorrow before deciding."

LATEST GALLOPS NOW ON-LINE

It has been a while but this morning's gallops are the first we have put on-line for over a week. This is mainly due to the time of year with many of the horses needing only routine canters to keep them ticking over. Although this weekend's big guns have done some proper work of late, the sales has meant that Mick has been back and forwards from Newmarket and has worked them whilst Sue and the camera has been elsewhere. Anyhow, it's only routine stuff but Majuro, Halicarnassus, Dream Sea, Missit, Som Tala, Hatta Fort, Kayflaa, Light Sea, Millies Rock and Alfredtheordinary can all be viewed. http://www.mickchannon.tv/owner.php

GROUND FEARS FOR HATTA

HATTA FORT may be forced to miss the Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes on Saturday if
the ground turns soft on the Rowley course.
Mick feels the colt was unhappy on easy ground when fourth to Rio De La Plata in the
Prix Jean-Luc Lagardes at Longchamp on Arc day.
He said: "There's no doubt he was hating the ground at Longchamp and I don't see any
point on running him on it again. In the circumstances he ran a cracker and, even
though this looks the best colt's race of the season, he won't be far away if he
does take his chance. He's a fresh horse and his work has been of a consistently high
level."
Meanwhile CHAMPIONSHIP POINT is set to contest the Dubai Champion Stakes and Mick continued: "
His owner John Livock is keen to run and it looks as if the ground will be ideal
for him. The plan is to run at Newmarket and then take him to the Dubai Carnival in
the winter."
BADDAM looked in good order breezing on the woodchip this morning and he will shoulder top
weight in the totesport.com Cesarewitch.
